Evelyn Boyd Granville

While primarily a mathematician (and the second black woman to earn a PhD in mathematics), Evelyn Boyd Granville made great strides in the field of IT, at a time when it was very new and relatively unknown. She studied functional analysis at Yale, and joined IBM in 1956. She aided in the development of NASA projects, including the algorithms that guided the Apollo rockets, a pioneering feat in computing.
To this day she continues to advocate for the introduction of mathematical and computational principles to young women and the integration of women in technology.
